Renee says: “I love everything about this superb pendant, and guarantee you will too! I have “Colour Washed” the top antique button and the bottom “V” component, then burnished/rubbed back to create the lovely patina. Set as always in solid sterling silver, I consider this a statement piece. I find the antique button (top) super interesting with a bit of an “art deco” look and feel. Because of the gold tone this pendant can be worn with a gold or silver chain, or the green cord as shown in the photos. I am including this cord, as it works perfectly! Antique Picture Buttons:
Making their appearance in the mid 1800’s era, Picture Buttons became fashionable by the late 1870’s and were made until about the 1920’s. Most were manufactured in Europe by master craftsmen and are remarkably beautiful and well made. A Picture Button is metal, sometimes a combination of metals such as steel, silver, copper or brass. Many of these buttons have been given names, either when they were originally made or later as to identify them for collectors. Many Picture Buttons feature designs that depict fables, myths, operas, scenes or popular items of the era. Picture Buttons are true miniature treasures from a bygone era.
Hi Reneé…the turtle pendant that I ordered arrived very quickly. It is utterly beautiful. Even though it looked stunning on the website……it is soooo much more vibrant & stunning in the hand! I know the gorgeous young woman who will receive it as a 21st present will really love it . To my delight & surprise a gift pair of drops were included in the parcel. Everything was so beautifully packaged & presented too. Thank you for bringing joy to my day. Nell x
