Renee says: “When I first started incorporating buttons into my creations, they were almost always vintage buttons. But one day while in Paris, one of the button collectors I buy my buttons from, showed me her stash of Antique buttons. To say I was smitten, is an understatement! I soon came to understand and appreciate these are rare and unique treasures from a by gone era and utterly remarable. The brass button I have used in the pendant featured here is from the mid-1800’s era, and a true classic. It almost looks like an old Roman coin! I have “Colour Washed” the button in a deep pink colour, then burnished back to show delightful image. Set as always in solid sterling silver, I then added a fresh water pearl, for extra charm. Scroll thru’ images of this one of a kind pendant, sure to delight!”

Hi Renee Just wanted to let you know my parcel arrived today. The earrings are just stunning, I am now jealous of the person I am giving them to for Christmas. Regards, Helen
Making their appearance in the mid 1800’s era, Picture Buttons became fashionable by the late 1870’s and were made until about the 1920’s. Most were manufactured in Europe by master craftsmen and are remarkably beautiful and well made. A Picture Button is metal, sometimes a combination of metals such as steel, silver, copper or brass. Many of these buttons have been given names, either when they were originally made or later as to identify them for collectors. Many Picture Buttons feature designs that depict fables, myths, operas, scenes or popular items of the era. Picture Buttons are true miniature treasures from a bygone era.
